I say “our” because my mom was the first in our family to own this car. When she got a “turbo” Forester, she let me take this car back to college, and she gave it to me “officially” when I moved to California. Every time we took it to the dealership for service, she politely reminded them that if the car wasn’t completely safe and something happened to me while driving it, she would come back with an AK-47. The service people joked back that they would have to install bullet-proof glass. Thankfully, they never took her wicked sense of humor too seriously.

This car is still running strong and I try to keep it just as well maintained as my mom did.
I completed this photo project from May 2009 to May 2010. Six years later, I'm reposting the series with additional thoughts. Here's what I wrote about it when I started.
