I had a craving for a Starbucks latte, so I got one. This is my Tall-Skinny-Hazelnut Latte (or SKHZL in Barista-nese). My mom and I often liked to stop for lattes during the day. It gave us a chance to sit down, relax, and chat. She often reminded me of the theory she’d heard once of “the longer the Starbucks order, the bigger the asshole” - so we kept our orders short by using the word “skinny” to mean non-fat milk and sugar-free syrup. As an added bonus, this latte was made for me by an actor friend of mine who was in a show with me in LA.

Now I rarely drink hazelnut lattes because my husband has a nut allergy. I still try to keep my order short, but that doesn't always happen, so alas, sometimes I'm a Starbucks "asshole".
I completed this photo project from May 2009 to May 2010. Six years later, I'm reposting the series with additional thoughts. Here's what I wrote about it when I started.
